Hala Seliet is Senior Lecturer and also the PGCE Business Education Course Leader at Hertfordshire University.
For more than 5 years Hala worked as the Business Education Regional Subject Lead with the Standard Unit with the DCSF and QIA. Hala is involved in the transformation of learning and teaching programme to improve achievement and attainment in Business Education at L2 and L3.
Hala was Head of Business Education, Social Sciences and the Vocational Courses Co-ordinator and in one of the largest comprehensive schools in Essex.
Hala is a senior examiner with one of the leading awarding bodies for GCSE Business Studies. She has also been awarded the status of Advanced Skills Teacher in Business Studies by the Essex Local Education Authority!
Hala also works as a consultant with the TDA in the new Quality Mark project which helps and prepares Business Studies Departments for the SEF and the self evaluation processes.
Hala has written the BTEC Introduction to Business book with Heinemann. Hala has also reviewed the BTEC First books, which were recently published by Heinemann and Nelson Thornes. See for current information.
Hala has a long and varied experience of teaching Business Studies in both secondary schools and on teacher training courses at different universities, such as the University of Huddersfield, University of Leeds and the Institute of Education of London University.
In addition Hala ran two DfES funded classroom projects to raise achievement and attainment in Business Studies with particular reference to literacy and numeracy. The work resulted in a huge improvement in students' value added at KS4 and KS5.
Hala is also a member of the QCA forum for Business Education.
